You don’t give the car insurance much thought…I get that…I think we can agree it’s really not too exciting.  At least until the new bill comes in the mail !

Nothing gets the blood pressure going more than another increase in the pennsylvania auto insurance bill. You’ve done your part, paid your bills on time, had no claims and it went up anyways. Again, I’ll side with you on this one…it’s very irritating.

But what are your options? Sure you can shop around and get some other prices and possibly switch companies. Here are the most common scenarios we deal with daily.

Scenario #1- You like your agent, he’s a nice guy and has always been there when you needed him. Maybe even a friend of the family. Loyalty has it’s price, and the price can be well worth it if you’ve found an agent who genuinely cares about you and your situation. To me, that is the reward of being in this business. Now’s the time to go sit down with your agent/friend and have a “heart to heart” about these prices. Many times he’ll uncover some options that may put some savings back in your pocket. At the very least you can confirm the reason you trust your agent and determine if the few extra $$ is money well spent.

Scenario#2- You’ve finally decided to get some prices. You really can’t even remember why you went to this agent in the first place but money is of the utmost importance. You call our office and we realize right away that you’re not happy with your current situation. Well, at least you called an agent who represents more than one company and can get you a few rates to compare. If you were with a “one company” agent you will probably like this experience much better. Now that you know you have someone who can address future rate increases with other options you feel a bit more comfortable.

.

So…you feel a little better, now let’s just make sure that you’ve gotten honest, thoughtful advice. Not many agents can supply you with a list of references…we can, and we will. Just ask and we’ll provide you with pages and pages of testimonials from satisfied clients who are happy to refer us to others. With the credibility issue out of the way, you’ll find that the companies we deal with are only the best in the business.

.

Our main company is the Erie Insurance Group. Erie is referred to in the industry as a “regional” carrier, meaning that they operate only within certain regions. Traditionally, regional companies have always had a better “handle” on rates and are much more specialized in their areas of operation. Erie is no exception, their reputation is head and shoulders above their competition when it comes to “Over Delivering” in all areas. Until you’ve spoken with a satisfied Erie claimant or customer you can only guess how good their promise is. After 23+years of representing this company, you’ll have to trust me on this one.

Another fine regional carrier we have in the office is the Donegal Group. Not a household word by any means, but a great company with some great features and coverages. Donegal has a special niche in the market and if you fit their profile the rates are absolutely the best in the business.

You’ll find that we also represent several national companies that are well recognized names. Hartford, Safeco and Farmers are a few of the more common companies we can offer you coverage through. Admitedly, I prefer to deal with the regional companies due to their past history of keeping rates more stable. Rest assured that we will give you all the reasons we think are best for you when recommending a company to insure with.
