My kids enjoy having a little fun at my expense when it comes to age. Well, I’m not quite old enough to have experienced the fifties but I’m quite sure I would have fit in very well. My families first trip to Fratelli’s in 2007 was enough to make the kids big fans of this fifties style diner that Josiah and Tina Herne began in July of 2007. Not only do the kids get an ice cream with their meal, the children’s menu is always a big hit. And the 50’s music is my personal favorite.

According to Josiah and Tina the menu will be changing due to popular demand and will put the emphasis on the area’s best burgers, barbeque and fish fries beginning April 1. Their highly rated reputation for great food and service will stay the same.

I’m told they have new 50’s items arriving daily at the restaurant so your next visit is sure

to be different from the last.

When this weather warms up a bit and you finally get out for a ride with the windows down you’ll be glad to know that Josiah and Tina

also have 8 different flavors of ice cream and homemade waffle cones for a fun family outing. You can enjoy your ice cream in authentic 50’s fashion while you reminisce about the good ole days in the ice cream parlor.

Whether you’re a fifties person or not, if you’re looking to experience something different and do it at a very affordable price, you can’t beat the value and friendly atmosphere at Fratelli’s Burgers and Barbeque. Josiah and Tina will do their personal best to make you feel welcome.

Fratelli’s is on E Main right before the Walmart Plaza

Today’s investment puzzle: Is a Roth IRA right for you?

May 30, 2009 in bradford, Bradford PA, bradford pennsylvania, Uncategorized

hundredWith the value of most traditional IRAs lowered because of stock market problems, this could be a great time to convert to a Roth IRA.
Each dollar you convert is taxed as ordinary income, so fewer dollars mean less tax. If you are under age 50, you can contribute $5,000 a year to a Roth. If you are 50 or over, it’s $6,000.
Contributions to a Roth can be withdrawn without penalty at any time.
Distributions, interest and dividends are tax-free if you are at least 59 1/2 and the account has been established for longer than five years.
You can contribute after age 70 1/2 as long as you have earned income. There are no required minimum distributions during your lifetime.
Another benefit of the Roth: Tax-free distributions can be passed to your beneficiaries. Call us for more info. anytime.

My 9 year old daughter’s Stimulus package

Working on some of my marketing at home recently and I came to a roadblock trying to come up with ideas to provide more value to my clients. On a whim, I asked my 9 year old, Sierra, what she thought was one of the best things we could do at the agency to make our clients happy enough to tell all their friends about us. She was more than happy to sit down and whip up an ad for her dad to use. I’m printing her response verbatim: “ Come to Eri and meet Debie at the front desk and Jacqueline and Patty and Dan(upstairs) You could even earn $300.00 in only one year and best of all you might even leave with more money you came in with. You will love the people there and the service and you will just love it there so hope to see you soon”

I may not have been a straight A math student, but I think my daughter may have put me on a collision course with bankruptcy court if that ad goes to print. As much as I’d like to help some of you earn $300.00 the state insurance department frowns on that sort of thing.

What I can do however, is appeal to your good judgment for suggestions to help me offer the best services you’ve ever had from an insurance agent. I encourage you to send me your ideas, suggestions and input to dan@williams-agency.net I look forward to hearing any ideas you have.

House hunters scoop up the bargains

May 29, 2009 in bradford, Bradford PA, bradford pennsylvania, Uncategorized

Drawn by the real estate opportunity of a lifetime, thousands of small investors are stepping back into the market, say the experts quoted Fortune.
They’re not the only ones drawn by bargain prices on everything from single-family homes, to duplexes and apartment houses. In December, there was a 6 percent increase in the sale of existing homes. (In January, new home construction figures were rising as well.)
Here’s how to get the best deals:
* Work with your real estate agent. The agent will be familiar with available properties and circumstances of the sellers. It’s important to know how long properties been on the market, which properties are entering foreclosure proceedings, and which homes are in good condition.
* Your real estate agent will be up-to-date on current government offers for home buyers and mortgage interest rates.
What you can do to help:
* Be prequalified by your lender in order to close a loan quickly.
* For properties in foreclosure, be prepared with a cash down payment.
* Consider a “short sale.” Your real estate agent can negotiate on your behalf with a bank and a homeowner about to go into foreclosure. It allows you more time to arrange financing. Since the lender has fewer costs, you could get a better price.
